About Us

RebarI come from a family of retailers. After being in business for over 80 years, it was in the late 1980’s when a big mall came to town and put many family-run stores out of business. During that transition, I spent several years in school studying architectural design, building codes, and structural design. Though I am not a licensed architect, nor do I profess to be, I have been providing architectural design services, nationwide, for many years.

In 1994, I left a full-time position, as a designer with an architectural firm, in Phoenix, Arizona, to start my own company, CAD Construction Design.  In 2005 my wife and I felt that the hot days of Phoenix seemed to be getting hotter by the year.  It was then that we relocated the corporation to the four seasons of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Back when I first started my business, much of my work was residential design and store and office space planning.  Here in Lancaster, I continue to provide that architectural design along with our now well-established kennel design business. Our first kennel, a private boarding kennel in Peoria, AZ, was designed in 2003, and, by the end of 2009, we had designed one hundred and seventy kennels nationwide.  Our clients include city animal control facilities, boarding facilities, training facilities, humane societies, private kennels, and much more.

I also invented and patented a tool for architects to measure roof pitch and angles in construction. It can be seen at www.pitchfinder.net. The tool has been well accepted in the roofing, stair building, and insurance claims adjustment industries as well as in architecture.

Nancy McAllester, my wonderful wife, is the company secretary, office manager, accounting manager, book sales manager, PitchFinder® sales manager, and senior dog walker.

Rebar, is our Shih Tzu, and he oversees all the corporate operations from his bed here in the office.

Over the years, a considerable amount of our business has been ‘Green Building’ before ‘Green’ was the ‘in thing’. We have designed many homes and commercial buildings using the renewable SIP’s, or Structural Insulated Panels. SIP’s are an extremely air-tight and highly insulated building product which you might consider for your next home. The kennels we design use a similar type of construction, except that there is no wood which can rot if exposed to moisture. No wood products are used in our kennel designs.

If you have any questions about our business or services, please give me a call. I am usually sitting right here in my office designing another kennel.

Thank you for considering us for your kennel design.
